Meet the maker

Ramona Quintero

Master beadworker · Workshop founder
Ramona learned to thread beads at seven, sitting between her grandmother and a basin of water that held the colors still. Three generations of her family have worked with seed beads in the same mountain village — the patterns carried in memory, not in books.
Her workshop now employs eleven women. Every bracelet you own from Sol & Stone was made by one of them, signed quietly inside the cord with a small knot — their signature.

Fit

Find your size in 30 seconds.

Our cord has a sliding knot for a half-inch of adjustment — so if you're between sizes, size up.

How to measure
  1. 1 Wrap a strip of paper or a string around your wrist, snug but not tight.
  2. 2 Mark where the ends meet.
  3. 3 Measure the distance in inches or cm.
  4. 4 Add ¼″ for a comfortable everyday fit — or size up for looser wear.

Origin

Made in the Sierra Madre.

San Andrés Cohamiata sits at 1,600 meters above sea level in the mountains of Nayarit, Mexico — home to the Wixárika people for 600 years. The bead tradition here predates the arrival of glass beads by a thousand years, once worked in bone, turquoise, and coral.

Care

Built for everyday. Loved with small rituals.

Seed beads and waxed cotton are forgiving materials — but a few small habits keep yours vivid for decades.

Rinse with fresh water
After ocean swims or heavy sweat. Pat dry with a soft cloth.
Let it breathe
Store flat in the linen pouch it arrived in. Avoid airtight boxes.
Skip perfume & lotions
On the cord itself — the waxed cotton loves skin, not alcohol.
A little sun is good
Daily wear is how these bracelets patina. Direct heat for days isn't.
Arrives gift-ready

Wrapped like the gift it is.

Every piece ships in a hand-stitched linen pouch with a letterpressed card explaining the pattern, the maker, and the meaning. Add a personal message at checkout — free.

"Day 14 of wearing it. Still obsessed."

The color is richer than the photos — and the knot is honestly beautiful up close. I love that it came with a card naming the maker.

"It survived Lisbon rain and the Atlantic."

Brought it on a 10-day trip — swam in it, walked 25k steps a day, and it looks identical to when I put it on. Buy with confidence.

"For her 18th birthday. She cried."

I bought this for my daughter and included the handwritten note option. She cried when she read the maker's story. Best gift I've given.

Common questions

Everything you'd like to know.

Still have questions? Write to atelier@solandstone.co — we reply within a day.

When will my order ship? +

Within 1–2 business days from our studio in Brooklyn. You'll get tracking the moment it leaves us. International orders go via DHL and usually arrive in 4–7 days.

Can I change or cancel my order? +

If it hasn't shipped yet, absolutely — just email hello@solandstone.co within 12 hours and we'll take care of it. Once it's on the truck, we can help you with a return instead.

Do you offer gift wrapping? +

Every order ships in a hand-stitched linen pouch with a letterpressed card — so yes, free, always. If you want a handwritten note, add it at checkout.

Is shipping really free? +

Free US shipping on every order. International starts at $18 via DHL. Duties to the EU and UK are included in our prices — no surprise fees at the door.

Do you ship to my country? +

We ship to the US, Canada, the EU, UK, Australia, Japan, Mexico, and most of Latin America. If you don't see yours at checkout, email us — we can usually work it out.

What is your return policy? +

90 days, no questions. If it doesn't feel right on, send it back — we'll refund you fully or swap for another piece. You pay return shipping only on international orders.

Is my piece covered if the cord breaks? +

Our pieces carry a one-year guarantee against defects in the cord, clasp, or knot work. If anything goes wrong in the first year, we repair it free and ship it back fast.

Who makes your jewelry? +

Four Wixárika families — about eleven women — in the Sierra Madre mountains of Nayarit and Jalisco, Mexico. Every piece is signed and traceable to a maker by name.

Is it really handmade? +

Yes. Every bead is threaded by hand. A fringe necklace takes 18–24 hours across three afternoons. There are no machines, no factories, no shortcuts.

What are the beads made of? +

Czech 11/0 glass seed beads (Preciosa Ornela), chosen in person on an annual sourcing trip. Cords are waxed Egyptian cotton. Findings are sterling silver or 14k gold-fill.

How do I care for my piece? +

Keep it dry — no showers, no ocean. Clean with a soft cotton cloth. Store flat, not hanging. We include a care card with every order.
